A Lowland forested park of 150sq km, Khao Nor Chuchi / Khao Pra-Bang Khram National Park supports the most diverse remaining lowland birds fauna of any site so far known in Southern Thailand, with over 200 species of resident and migratory birds.
Species includes a great many lowland specialists and other species which are scarce elsewhere: Malaysian Honeyguide, Crested Wood-Partridge, Crested Fireback, Jambu Fruit-Dove, Diard’s Trogon, Red-crowned Barbet, Javan Frogmouth, Black-throated Babbler, Ferruginous Babbler, Large Wren-Babbler, Rufous-crowned Babbler, Striped Wren-Babbler and Chestnut-rumped babbler .
This national park is the only site known to support a potentially viable population of Gurney’s Pitta , with 8-12 probable territories so far located. Hooded Pitta, Giant Pitta and Banded Pitta also present.
